Concours - Taupo 2008

The clubs annual Concours event is held every year at the AGM weekend in Taupo. The number of cars competing in the event is growing and having the cars lined up along State Highway 1 offers great advertising and promotion for the club.

Concours D’ Elegance Report  2008.
By Graham Swanney

Wow! What a fun time the A.G.M. was.. The concours – the lunch – the Targa – the race day, the A.G.M. meeting (well they can’t all be calm) and the convoy. The party atmosphere at the car show and shine in Rotorua was special.

The concours results seemed about right and I thank the very hard working judges –
Jason on race cars
Kelvin on engine bays
Jeff on hatch and boots
Bruce on interiors
Owen and Ken on exteriors
and Kay for adding up judging sheets and writing up certificates.

Thank you Norm for judging under carriage the worst of all jobs. We noticed you came prepared with knee pads. Good forward thinking.

The position of the concours by the main highway was perfect.
I have had some input of ideas on future concours events from club members and we are forming a small sub committee to see if we can improve the judging time and process. Please contact Graham at gtscapri@xnet.co.nz with any comment or ideas – it’s your club and concours is fun but it also tends to keep the club vehicles looking great.

One idea I’ve had put forward was a class for daily driven cars - we will consider any input.

Thanks to the weather gods, Lindsay and his team, all the ladies that often help in the background,

The Capri Club is in good hands and can only go forward.
